You’re probably reading this article on a mid-winter day, but before you know it, sunny skies, quieter slopes, and soft spring riding conditions will arrive. To help you plan your trip to Niseko, here are some reasons why we love Spring:
With fewer people in the resort, the slopes are quieter, lift lines are short (or non-existent), it’s easier to get around town, and there’s more availability at Niseko’s fantastic restaurants and bars. You can get more laps out of your day on the hill, explore new terrain, and try some of the more popular dining spots that you’ve heard so much about but might have been booked out during peak season. In more good news, Hanazono have announced that they are extending winter season until April 13th.
Spring brings warmer temperatures and more sunny days, a welcome change from the snowy weeks in the depth of winter. Volcano views are on point with the majestic Mt. Yotei towering above town, visibility is excellent. Combined with the quieter slopes, it’s the perfect time for families and beginners/intermediates to progress their skills. If you consider yourself an advanced skier or snowboarder, why not test your freestyle skills in the Terrain Parks at Hirafu and Hanazono?
Believe it or not, there’s more to the powder capital than skiing and snowboarding! Niseko is the perfect base for road trips and sightseeing in the seaside towns of Yoichi and Otaru, as well as the breathtaking landscapes of Lake Toya. If you want to keep things local, the resort offers exciting off-slope tours.
Exciting events are happening both on and off the slopes this spring. Snow Machine’s renowned Après and DJ party is coming to Niseko for the first time ever, from March 10-15. If you want to catch all the apres and live music action, book now because tickets and accommodation packages are selling out quickly!
Night skiing will be open at all four resorts until 23 March for those who can’t get enough of the slopes. Don’t miss Hanazono’s spectacular fireworks displays on Saturdays until 22 March, lighting up the sky over the resort.
The savings available during spring might just be the best part. You can find discounted rates on lift tickets in the spring season from March 23, and discounts on lessons, rentals, activities, and accommodation are offered.
