Niseko Season Update

February, 25th 2025

What a winter it’s been so far in Niseko! From world-class lift upgrades to record-breaking snowfall, unexpected sunny spells, and classic powder days, this season has delivered it all – and it’s not over yet.

Season Highlights So Far

After a slow start, the snow arrived in force. By December 18th, Hanazono recorded its deepest snowpack in 20 years, setting the stage for endless powder days. January saw lighter snowfall, but February roared back, with a massive 24-hour dump of 40cm at the base and 60cm up top to set the tone.

What’s Next?

The base measured at the top of Grand Hirafu is currently 360cm, which is up 55cm from the same time last year. Additionally, there is fresh snow in the forecast, promising a strong start to March. As we transition into spring, we can look forward to quieter slopes, longer sunny days, and unbeatable deals! Here’s a snapshot of why we’re so excited about spring in Niseko:

Spring Savings

Spring brings steep savings. Starting March 23, lift tickets drop in price, and you’ll also find discounts on lessons, rentals, activities, and accommodation – making it the perfect time to enjoy Niseko for less. Hirafu and Hanazono have released a combined, discounted 25-hour lift ticket, exclusively for skiing and boarding from 25 February onwards. Niseko Village are offering great discounts on some of their top accommodation options – The Green Leaf, Hinode Hills and Kasara Townhouses.

Road Trips

Spring is the perfect time to explore beyond the slopes, whether you’re not riding, or you’re hardcore skier looking for an off-day adventure, here are some incredible day trips to take from Niseko:

Making It’s Debut – Snow Machine

Snow Machine is coming to town for the first time ever – just a couple of weeks away! Get ready for four epic days of music, après, and, of course, skiing – the ultimate fusion of a music festival and a ski trip. From March 11-14, world-renowned artists like Chase & Status, Dillon Francis, and Claptone will take over the slopes of Niseko. Off-Slope Activities

Reaching speeds of up to 110 km/h on the Mach 3 line, it’s perfect for thrill-seekers. If you prefer to stay on the ground, Niseko Village offers Guided Snowshoe Tours and Snow Rafting, while Hanazono provides Snowmobile and Snowshoe Tours. Don’t miss out on these exciting winter experiences before winter comes to a close.

Fewer Queues, More Fun, For Longer

With a quieter resort, the slopes feel wide open, lift lines are short or gone, and getting around town is hassle-free. Plus, it’s easier to get a table at Niseko’s sought-after restaurants and bars. You’ll have more time on the mountain, the freedom to discover new terrain, and the chance to finally check out those must-visit dining spots. Plus, Hanazono extended their season so you can keep lapping until 13 April!
